Provence Pecan, also known as Meranti, is a very clean and stable species. Because of its versatility, Meranti has become one of the most sought after species by craftsman and wood workers all over the world. The Meranti tree grows in abundance in many Asian countries. The Meranti tree itself can grow to a height of 200 feet with a diameter of over 6 feet.
This is a very large but rapidly growing tree and therefore creates a large yield when harvested making it an excellent species for use in many commercial applications. With an interlocking grain Meranti is very resistant to bending. It's texture and grain is very similar to mahogany. Meranti's coloring can vary but mostly consists of light red to dark red hues. Meranti is species of wood used all over the world for many different commercial applications, however, its primary modern day uses include wood flooring, furniture making, and general construction.
