Perched high on a hill with sweeping vistas of Monterey Bay, Sunset Magazine’s Idea House opens to the public October 2, 2008 and features a host of leading-edge products for the home, including exotic hardwood flooring from BR-111.
Encompassing 6,000 square feet, the Monterey Idea House includes three interconnected barn-like structures reflecting the rural character and history of the surrounding farmland community. In contrast to the rustic exterior design, the home’s interior design elements feature a “warm contemporary” feel with modern accents and eclectic furnishings.
BR-111 joins an impressive lineup of national sponsors that reads like a “Who’s Who” of home improvement manufacturers, including Kohler kitchen and bath accessories, Pella windows and doors, GE appliances, and Benjamin Moore Paints.
“We’re proud to be associated with other leading manufacturers sponsoring the Monterey Idea Home with Sunset,” said Ricardo Moraes, president of BR-111. “Our exotic hardwood flooring is equally suited for modern or rustic décor and provides a seamless transition between the home’s interior and exterior design elements.”
Tiete Chestnut, from the BR-111 3/4" Solid collection was chosen for the main living areas, while BR-111 Antiquity® Hand-Scraped in Dolcetto Chestnut graces the luxurious guest suite. The tan to dark reddish brown hues and unique graining characteristic of these Brazilian wood species provides a perfect anchor for the home’s earth tone colors and blend of textures from nature, ranging from natural stone and tile to exotic and domestic hardwoods.
For almost 20 years, BR-111 has been a leader in the exotic hardwood flooring arena, providing products that are recognized for their beauty, performance and overall value. Exciting new hardwood species and innovative products, ranging from prefinished solids and engineered flooring to hand-scraped and distressed products, are researched and developed annually in an on-going effort to achieve the ultimate level of excellence.
